Are you a homeschooler in the state of PA and need help with your student? Do you need an evaluator for your end of year portfolio? If so, please check out our many services offered below.
We are happy to offer the following services:
Homeschool Evaluations: We have certification in the state of PA to evaluate students in grades 7-12. We are open to various teaching styles and aware of many learning disabilities and will work with you to ensure your student has met the requirements by state law. Evaluations are due to your district by June 30th, so the last date for evaluations through us is June 15th to allow for any last minute details that may come up. The fee for this service is $40, however, we do offer a discount for multiple children in a family.
Homeschool Consultations: If you are in need of help selecting curriculum for one or many subjects for your child(ren), we are happy to discuss options that take into account your child's learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, and desires. Please contact us for more information. The fee for this service is on a case-by-case basis due to the complexity of needs.
Individual Instruction: By state law, you must supervise the instruction for your student, but the law allows for you to have some subjects taught by another person as long as you are overseeing the instruction. We can provide private instruction for one or several students in your household in most subjects. All necessary paperwork and records would be maintained by MAS, Inc. for the parent to use in the end of year portfolio. The standard rate for instruction would be the same as for tutoring. Most middle and high school students need only 1-2 hours per week of direct instruction to complete a class during a typical school year. If this option sounds like it might work, we do offer prepayment options as well to reduce costs. Classes include: Pre-algebra through Calculus, 6-8th grade science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science. If you are interested in another class, please contact us and we will work with you to find a solution.
End of Year Standardized Testing: PA requires students in grades 3, 5, and 8 to take a standardized test during that school year to be included during your evaluation. Starting in 2017, MAS, Inc. is offering the Stanford 10 (SAT10) for grades 3-12 through Homeschool Testing Services at Hope Community Church on May 8-9, 2017.
